Discover the Alexander Technique.
Re-Discover your natural ease.

Lessons are tailored to your unique needs, and include explorations of everyday activities, as well as specialized movements within each students life.

Lessons usually include time spent exploring daily movements, ones we all know how to do, and usually do for the most part unconsciously.  We bring our conscious attention the these activities to find out what habits of movement we may have that interfere with our natural ease and efficiency.  Many Alexander students & teachers speak of “Chair Work” - which is time exploring sitting and standing.  Lessons also include simple activities like walking and reaching.

Students are encouraged to bring their own needs & interests into their Alexander lessons.  From coping with injury or pain, enhancing performing arts or public speaking, playing instruments or sports, yoga, exercises, or doing desk and house work; an Alexander teacher can help you to explore doing everything you need and want to do with less compression, more choice, and increased awareness.

Most lessons include some time lying down, fully clothed, on a bodywork table.  This gives students a chance to learn about the principles of the Alexander Technique while not attempting to move themselves through space.  The teacher will gently move you and help guide you into release of excess muscular effort.  The Alexander teacher’s touch is not manipulative or intrusive but trained to heighten your kinesthetic experience.  The table lesson is very relaxing for most people, but it is not a passive experience, it is a time to heighten your thinking and develop your skill in the Technique.

“I have been pleasantly and greatly surprised by the effectiveness of Amira’s work.   Having tried a number of directions to free my body from tension and unease in my work, and in my everyday life, I wasn’t sure that it was something I would ever find: I have been proven wrong!”
